Pathway To Progression

My Future is a specially designed study programme for learners to prepare them for progression to My Choice. It comprises:

  • Reading
  • Pastoral/1-1 target setting
  • English FS
  • Maths FS
  • Life, Social & Employability skills
  • Confidence-building: communication/ presentation skills, vocal techniques, body language, role play.
  • Commando Joe's:  team work, problem-solving leading to Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
  • Work experience
As a student you will work towards the college RARPA (Recognising and Recording of Personal Achievements) certificate which focuses on setting and reviewing individual targets and personal and social development units to ensure you develop the skills that will enable you to progress on to further mainstream vocational learning or employment.  In addition you will complete Functional Skills qualifications in maths and English. 


Class sizes are small and you will be taught by a highly qualified team of tutors, dedicated to ensuring your learning experience is fun, challenging and meaningful. Access to a specialist additional support team offering sensory support including BSL and ‘sighted guidance’ and experience of Dyslexia, Autism, ADD/ADHD and mental health related issues.You will have your own named, Personal Tutor and you will have access specialist classrooms and resources. You will have an accessible Individual Learning Plan (ILP) which is monitored and reviewed weekly by yourself with your Personal Tutor, to ensure your learning journey stays on track.We have strong links with family and professionals involved in all aspects of your development.

Method of assessments are varied to meet your needs and abilities and will include written and verbal assessments, observation and witness statements, photographic and video evidence.  
You will complete units related to Employability Skills and will have the opportunity to participate in a range of relevant work experience placements suited to your area of interests and needs.
You would follow the path set by your chosen vocational area
You must want to improve you English, maths and employability skills

Study Programme

All students at Oldham College will participate in a personalised study programme that will maximise your potential and enable you to progress onto employment, apprenticeships or higher education.

This means you will:

  • Study a core qualification in a vocational discipline and continue to develop your English and Maths skills through functional skills, GCSE resits and the option of Level 3 qualifications
  • Participate in meaningful work experience
  • Enjoy a range of enrichment opportunities e.g. basketball, archery, skiing and sign language
  • Take part in dedicated tutorial sessions to review your progress and development
