The Level 2 Diploma in Accounting and Business is made up of ten mandatory units.

1. Processing bookkeeping transactions:
• Understanding double-entry bookkeeping, books of prime entry and describing coding system functions
• Preparing and processing customer and supplier invoices and credit notes

2. Control accounts, journals and the banking system:
• Understanding the purpose and use of control accounts and journals
• Maintaining control accounts and the journal

3. Basic costing:
• Understanding an organisation’s cost recording system
• Using spreadsheets to convey information on actual and budgeted income and expenditure

4. Work effectively in accounting and finance:
• Understanding an organisation’s accounting or payroll function
• Understanding ethical values, principles and importance of confidentiality

5. Using Accounting Software
• Entering data at the start of an accounting period to set up customer and supplier accounts
• Recording and processing customer and supplier transactions

The qualification is assessed by a mixture of computer based tests.

In addition, to these formal assessments, you will complete a variety of progress assessments both in class and using the Virtual Learning Environment
This qualification offers a progression route to the AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 3.
AAT, the Association of Accounting Technicians, is the UK’s leading qualification and membership body for vocational accountants. They work across the globe with around 125,000 members in more than 90 countries.

The AAT Level 2 in Accounting qualification offers an entry route to the full AAT Accounting qualification.  The qualification offers technical training in accounting and provides specialist knowledge and skills to gain employment in an accounting role and/or the opportunity to progress to further qualification in accountancy or a related field

The purpose of this qualification is to provide students with the skills, competence knowledge and understanding to effectively fulfil various junior finance roles in almost any type of industry and organisation both large and small.

On successful completion of this qualification, you will be eligible for progression on to Accounting & Financial Services Level 3. 
As this is a part time evening course there will no work experience within this course
