This traineeship will allow you to gain relevant employability skills, which will improve your future prospects for employment, apprenticeships and further education. You will learn a variety of practical and technical skills, aimed at developing the key skills employers are looking for. You will gain skills in time management, job searching and applications, as well as social media, web and IT skills needed in roles that use digital applications. This course content has been written by the BBC and is part of their ‘Make it Digital’ campaign. Trainees will be put through a creative and in-depth training programme specifically designed by BBC professionals for industry standard use in digital and creative Media. You will also continue to develop your maths and English skills.

Training will be consist of Employability, IT and Digital skills, incorporating a 2 day per week  placement covering 100 hours with an employer.

We partner with prospective employers who would like to offer a work experience placement to one of our specialised digital trainees during their training.

You can start your traineeship at any time of the year but you must have the entry requirements to join the course. This course although classed as level one attracts students .

The content of the training is specifically designed to progress your digital skills in line with current IT, Creative media and digital marketing skills to make digital content and use IT systems in companies.

A variety of assessment methods are used on this course. There will be formal report writing, including citations and referencing alongside formal and informal presentations, video and audio evidence and wikis and blogs. You will produce a digital portfolio and a porftfolio for the award in employability you will achieve while you are on the course. Project based assignments are also used to evidence skills and knowledge.
Students will achieve work placements as part of their course. We run employer master classes where North West businesses come into college to work with students on live projects where you will showcase your talents and begin to network with potential employers. This course has close links with UK Fast who offer placements and masterclasses for our networking students.

Explanation of entry requirements

To enter the course you need to pass and interview and be screened for your maths and English level, Students are expected to have a good use of English language Level 2 is desirable and mathematical skills are important. .You should also have some experience of using software such as Photoshop, Excel and Microsoft applications. You will also be asked to present yourself in interview as you would for employment so we can initially assess your performance in interview, communication skills and ability to discuss your interest in the traineeship. We take students at any point through the year so you can apply for this course as soon as you would like to join us.

Level 2 software and hardware courses, Level 2 design and photography, apprenticeship in design, apprenticeship in social media, apprenticeship in IT.
