You will work on live assignments gaining valuable work experience in:

  • Client briefs
  • Entering competitions
  • Teaching workshops
  • Visiting exhibitions
  • UCAS fairs and end of year university degree shows. 

At the end of year you will have an excellent portfolio to showcase your skills and gain that valuable place on to level 3 Games Design or another chosen path.

This course includes the opportunity to achieve additional professional qualifications in Adobe ACA. Private training providers often charge £1000 + for these courses.

Level 3 – 4 x GCSE grades A-C or level 4-9 ( including English and Maths)

Explanation of entry requirements

We assess regularly with both informal/formal, formative and summative portfolio assessments. Employers are involved in assessment where live design work has been produced. Students are asked to produce digital and actual portfolios and build sketchbooks for assessment.

We also embed self, peer and tutor assessment in almost every session, whether this is in verbal or written form. Learners have regular tutorials where their assessment grades are checked. Other areas of study such as English and Maths may involve examinations.

A portfolio from your GCSE project work is recommended for interview.

We will provide you with a unique experience preparing you for a career in the Game Industry. The course will build your skills in concept design, 2D digital illustration, 3D digital design and model making, Illustration including the digital skills you need to communicate your design work.

This will help you to understand how the industry works and what personal, academic and creative skills you will need to be successful.

FDa Graphic Design

Work experience is focused on building employability skills and understanding of professional working.  This is through collaborative projects with game students, taking part in talks by visiting industry professionals, live competition briefs, off-site visits to museums and film exhibitions.
