A ten-week program consisting of;

Theory and Practical elements relating to basic skills required to enter the Motor Vehicle industry through a variety of different routes such as Car Valeting and Basic safety checks

It will be delivered over two separate days between 09:00 and 17:00.

To be able to work safely within the Motor Vehicle Industry, and to learn some basic skills relating to Valeting Cars and carrying out Basic Maintenance such Tyre, Oil and Water checks.

We have fully equipped workshops and classrooms and staff with the relevant industry knowledge.

You will achieve the skills and knowledge acquired will support the candidate in securing an entry level position with either a Valeting company or with a Garage or Service Centre.

Either a Full-Time course in Motor Vehicle or a Traineeship leading into an Apprenticeship.

Demonstration of good behaviour and a desire to work within the Motor Vehicle Industry and an awareness of the Health and Safety requirements for working in a Workshop environment.

Study Programme

All students at Oldham College will participate in a personalised study programme that will maximise your potential and enable you to progress onto employment, apprenticeships or higher education.

This means you will:

  • Study a core qualification in a vocational discipline and continue to develop your English and Maths skills through functional skills, GCSE resits and the option of Level 3 qualifications
  • Participate in meaningful work experience
  • Enjoy a range of enrichment opportunities e.g. basketball, archery, skiing and sign language
  • Take part in dedicated tutorial sessions to review your progress and development
