l’ve always enjoyed studying and I have always had an interest in becoming a beautician and learning new skills. Through my NVQ and Apprenticeship I have discovered I really enjoy working with clients and improving my people skills in addition to my technical skills.

The NVQ course at Oldham College has been perfect for me as it allowed me to experience what working in a “real life” hair and beauty salon is like and it means I’ve had lots of opportunities to practice different skills. I’ve particularly enjoyed learning how to do massage, but have really enjoyed all elements of the practical side and thrown myself into life at Salon 7. I recently won Employee of the Month, which I was thrilled about.

Studying at Oldham College has been brilliant, the tutors have been so supportive and helpful and I’ve really grown in confidence. I’ve also become much more ambitious as a result of my Apprenticeship. Finding something I am good at and enjoy has really spurred me on and now I’d like to progress up the ranks in a salon, alongside possibly having a mobile business of my own.
