Founded in 1913, Hazel Grove is a beautiful parkland course with excellent views over Manchester and the rolling Cheshire plains.
Numerous water hazards, tree lined fairways and true USPGA specification greens provide an enjoyable test of golf all year round.
The Cheshire course has been described by golf journalists as one of Cheshire’s “hidden gems” and is recognised by members and visiting parties as a challenging but enjoyable place to play golf.
Our membership is thriving and we have active, well supported Ladies, Seniors, Wednesday, and Junior sections to suit individual needs. We pride ourselves on being a friendly club and focus on quickly integrating new members into the club and making them feel welcome.

As an Apprentice Greenkeeper you will carry out routine golf course maintenance tasks as directed by the Head Greenkeeper, in accordance with the Club’s Golf Course Maintenance Requirement’s, its Health and Safety Policy and the Greenkeepers Code of Conduct.

Vacancy description:
During the course of your apprenticeship you will be trained and directed to undertake the following duties:

Maintain good standards of health and safety for self and others

Preparing the golf course for play which will include removing early morning dew and debris from the greens, raking bunkers, moving tee markers, cutting new holes on greens

Preparing and using equipment and machinery to maintain and renovate all turf surfaces within the golf course, including the use of tractors, ride-on machines, and specialist equipment

Apply turf treatments to help produce quality playing surfaces, including fertilisers and top dressing

Using a variety of integrated methods to control weeds, fungal diseases, pests and turf disorders

Maintain and renovate bunkers and other hazards such as water features

Maintain drainage and irrigation systems

Preparing ground to establish turf and plants when maintaining, renovating and constructing golf course features

4 GCSE’s A to C, incl maths & English
