Apprentice in Performing Manufacturing Operations Level 2

About the employer:
We are a specialist manufacturer of timber and plywood pallets, cases and crates. We also offer a “just in time” service to our customers whose warehouse space is at a premium. Every order with us is unique. Our expert team design your pallets or cases to your specifications, providing you with a perfect-fit solution for your business’ delivery needs. Our manufacturing process can accommodate anything from one-off orders to high volume requirements. We regularly produce pallets and cases up to, and in excess of, six metres in size.

Overview of the role (what will the learner be doing and what will the learner gain):
The role will involve manufacturing timber and plywood packing cases, crates and pallets using nail guns, wood working machinery (where appropriate training has been received) and other power tools within a fast paced environment with special regards to safety at all times.

Utilisation of a production bench (keeping the bench or work area running efficiently / set up) whilst minimising wastage

Productivity – ensuring bench runs smoothly, at optimum performance ensuring schedules and production targets are met

Quality – concentration and focus on product quality

Housekeeping – keeping your area clean, tidy and organised at all times
Due to the nature of the range products, in both size, shape and weight, this is a physically demanding role. Emphasis therefore must be paid to all aspects of health and safety at all times.

Improving Operational Performance-Level 2
Functional Skills English – Level 1
Functional Skills Maths – Level 1

Vacancy description:
Produce quality pallets, cases and crates
Achieve set production targets
Understand specific materials

Understand and work to production drawings
Keep works areas clean, tidy and free of debris
Ensure products are produced in a timely manner and to customer schedule
Document and report production activities daily as assigned
Final assembly quality and inspections including “sign off”

4* GCSE’s at 3+ (A-D)
